Malaysian Minister of Higher Education Visits President NAGATA

On July 28, The Honorable Dato' Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sufian Jusoh of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, together with eight accompanying members visited our Tsukuba campus. They met with President NAGATA Kyosuke, Vice President and Executive Director for Education KATO Mitsuyasu, and Director of the Office of International Exchange Support/Regional Director for Southeast Asia NOMURA Nakao.

During the meeting, we expressed our gratitude for the great support given to the University of Tsukuba, Malaysia (UTMy) and to our university's broader activities in Malaysia. We also shared updates on the current situation and future development of UTMy. The discussion then moved to Hi-TVET (Higher Technical and Vocational Education and Training), an area of particular interest to the Malaysian government. This led to an exchange on the Japan-US partnership in AI research at our university and touched on the possibility for future cooperation with Malaysia in this field.

Further strengthening of ties between Malaysian higher education institutes and our university is expected going forward.
